Why hello Don Draper, yes, I would love to sit down with you and share a Canadian Club cocktail. Isn’t that the dream? It came as close to being true at the Canadian Club Mad Men season five DVD launch as I think it ever will.
It was a night of old fashioned luxury, and I don’t just mean the cocktail, although it was on the menu. Also on the menu, at the swanky Terminal City Club, was a Canadian Club whiskey tasting, which is done much like wine tasting. Three Canadian Club whiskeys were sampled: Premium aged six years, Reserve aged ten years and the oh so smooth Classic aged twelve years.
Hors d’oeuvres circulated, CC cocktails flowed and guests enjoyed the 1960’s touches that could be found in every corner. There was even a bit of game to identify a picture, and it ended with the lovely Vancity Amy winning a Hamilton watch.
And now to wait patiently for the dashing good looks and charm of Mr. Draper in season six, until then, I think I think I’ll curl up with a cocktail and the season five DVD’s.
